6. Inclusion Policy

  • PCIN collects, maintains and disseminates community services information that enables people to make informed choices to improve their quality of life.
  • Inclusion in the InformationPerth database is free, and is completely unrelated to whether an organization is a partner in any collaboration.
  • Subject to the priorities detailed in the next section, the community services database includes organizations or programs primarily located in or serving the County of Perth that:
    • Provide a direct service to the public
    • Are networks or coalitions of direct service providers
    • Are involved in licensing, planning or coordinating direct services
    • Are not-for-profit, community-based or government organizations
    • Are commercial organizations that provide services not offered by the non-profit sector
    • Are commercial organizations licensed by the government or with special contractual agreements to operate long term care facilities, child care centres and certain home care services

7. Data Sharing

  • Requests by individuals, organizations or agencies for copies of the database or selected groups of records within the database are to be made in writing to PCIN and approved by the InformationPerth Community Services Database Steering Committee and PCIN Board of Trustees.
  • Under no circumstances will the information within the database be sold to other organizations, or will other organizations be allowed to sell the information obtained from the database.

8. Exclusion of Data

  • PCIN reserves the right to exclude from its database any organization that it has adequate reason to believe may spread hatred or have a philosophy that could be hurtful to the well-being of individuals, groups or the community as a whole. Certain information about an organization or its services may be withheld from the database if such information is deemed to be a possible threat to the organization or its clients.
  • Potential grounds for exclusion or removal from the database may include, but is not limited to, service non-delivery, fraud, misrepresentation, discrimination, or criminal activities.
  • PCIN reserves the right to refuse to list or to discontinue listings for organizations that have had serious complaints lodged against them with any regulatory body, with other organizations in the database providing similar services, or with PCIN itself.
  • Database records detailing or describing an organization and its programs shall be deleted upon the receipt of a written request from that organization. Appeals may be made in writing to the PCIN Board of Directors after a reasonable attempt has been made to resolve the issue with the Database Advisory Committee.

9. Update Policy

  • Most organizations listed are asked annually to complete a written questionnaire or to update their information by telephone, fax or e-mail. Nevertheless, community services change so rapidly that some omissions and changes are inevitable.
  • PCIN encourages organizations to use the Contact Us link on the website to notify the database administrators of changes throughout the year.
  • PCIN reserves the right to verify each change with the service provider. The amount of detail, the language used and the presentation of information in describing a service or organization, is at the discretion of PCIN.
  • Changes submitted will not appear immediately on the Site.
